Everyday AGI: Democratizing Intelligence for an Abundant Future

What if general-purpose AI were as ubiquitous and trustworthy as electricity? What if intelligence itself—artificial or otherwise—were no longer a scarce resource, but a shared utility available to everyone?

At AGI Inc, we are on a mission to turn those questions into reality. We’re a new kind of organization – part foundational research lab, part ambitious startup – and we’re dedicated to building the infrastructure for everyday AI

Our vision is bold yet straightforward: make artificial general intelligence safe, reliable, and universally accessible. In short, democratize intelligence and usher in an era of abundance.

Intelligence for Everyone, Everywhere

For too long, advanced AI systems have been the domain of a select few—guarded behind corporate firewalls, proprietary models, and opaque platforms. AGI Inc believes this model is fundamentally limiting. Intelligence shouldn’t be locked up; it should be set free. General-purpose AI should be ambient, trustworthy, and available to all, much like the internet or public utilities. We envision a world where AI is an invisible helper in everyday life: always on, always accessible, and always aligned with human needs.

Democratizing intelligence means lowering the barriers so that everyone – developers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and everyday users – can benefit from and contribute to AI. This isn’t just altruism; it’s how the best innovations happen. Open ecosystems outperform closed ones. Just as open-source software and open internet protocols unlocked decades of creativity and growth, an open AI ecosystem will unleash innovation on a societal scale.

AI should not be the exclusive realm of tech giants or elite labs. It’s a resource to be shared, a collaborative endeavor, and a public good. We take inspiration from efforts that pivot away from centralized, proprietary AI systems toward accessible, collaborative models. In practice, that means building systems and tools that any motivated person or team can use to create intelligent agents that improve their communities and businesses.

Toward Everyday AGI

“Everyday AGI” is our rallying cry and our north star. It’s the idea that artificial general intelligence should seamlessly integrate into daily life – not in some distant sci-fi future, but starting now. Today’s AI is often experienced via chatbots or as disembodied assistants that do narrow tasks. We see a future where AI is more than a chat interface or a hidden algorithm. It will be an ever-present partner for your ideas, projects, and tasks – almost like an extension of your mind. Imagine having a trustworthy digital collaborator that can understand your goals, navigate the web or any software on your behalf, and help you accomplish complex tasks with ease.

To get there, we’re focusing on building agentic AI systems – AI “agents” that can perceive, reason, and act autonomously on our behalf. But unlike the experimental agents of recent hype (which often feel like flaky demos), these agents are being engineered for real-world reliability

Our team has spent years pushing the frontier of AI agents (our founders previously pioneered one of the first browser-based AI assistants), and we learned a key lesson: an agent isn’t truly useful until you can trust it to work consistently. Everyday AGI must earn its place in our lives by being robust, helpful, and safe every single day.

What does this look like in practice? It means an AI that can schedule your meetings, plan your trips, research and summarize information, automate mundane workflows, and even coordinate with other AI agents on your behalf – all while you go about your life. Crucially, it does this in a way that amplifies your abilities rather than replacing or confining them. We’re not interested in AI for AI’s sake; we’re interested in how AI can make your life better and your work more productive. Humans and AI should amplify each other’s potential, not compete in a zero-sum game.

Building the Foundations: Open Protocols & Trustworthy Infrastructure

Achieving this vision isn’t just about training bigger models or slapping a chatbot onto an app. It requires re-architecting the digital world for an AI-driven future. At AGI Inc, a huge part of our mission is building the invisible infrastructure and open standards that will make ambient intelligence possible and safe. We often draw an analogy to the early internet: just as open protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, and SMTP allowed computers and networks to connect universally, we need open protocols for AI agents to interact safely and seamlessly with the world.

1. Open, Agentic Protocols: We are pioneering new standards for how AI agents communicate, not just with humans but with each other and with the services around them. This includes protocols for agent-to-agent communication, so that any AI agent can speak the same language to any other (imagine a common “HTTP for AI agents”). It also means standards for how agents interact with websites, apps, and devices on your behalf. For example, rather than trapping AI in a closed platform, we want an agent to be able to use any website or service through standard, allowed interfaces – all with your permission and oversight. Efforts in the community like Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) hint at what’s possible here: a kind of “USB-C port for AI” that lets intelligent agents plug into many services with built-in safety and access controls

We’re contributing to this emerging ecosystem of open agent protocols so that the future of AI isn’t a bunch of isolated walled gardens, but an open network of intelligence.

2. Cryptographic Trust and Security: As AI agents begin to make decisions and take actions in the world, trust is paramount. How do you know an agent will do what it’s supposed to do, and only that? How do you prevent bad actors from abusing these systems? Our answer is to bake trust and security into the very fabric of the infrastructure. We’re developing cryptographically reliable mechanisms to verify an agent’s identity, origin, and permissions. Similar to how your web browser can check a website’s SSL certificate to know it’s legitimate, your future AI agents will carry digital credentials proving which AI system they are, who controls them, and what they’re allowed to do. Imagine an Agent Passport – a secure, digitally signed identity for an AI agent that any service can validate instantly. With such a system, when your personal AI assistant tries to, say, book a flight or execute a transaction on your behalf, the website can verify that this agent is your authorized representative, not a rogue bot. These open credentials and audit trails create accountability: every action an agent takes can be transparently recorded and verified.

In short, we are building trustworthy AI from the ground up, using the tools of cryptography, distributed ledgers, and rigorous verification to ensure agents behave safely and transparently.

3. Reliability & Benchmarking: Hand-in-hand with security is the need for reliability. Today’s AI systems, especially agentic ones, can be impressively clever one moment and frustratingly brittle the next. That’s unacceptable for something that people will depend on in daily life. At AGI Inc, we put a huge emphasis on evaluation and standards. We’ve even built our own internal testing grounds – sandboxes that simulate real-world web environments – to rigorously evaluate how well AI agents perform complex tasks (and where they fail) under a variety of conditions.

By developing new benchmarks and sharing them with the community, we aim to raise the bar for what “reliable AI” means. It’s not enough for an AI to work 90% of the time on trivial demos; everyday AGI needs to be as dependable as the apps and tools we use today, and we won’t be satisfied until interacting with your AI agent feels as natural and failsafe as using a smartphone.

Safe, Collaborative, and Aligned by Design

We are techno-optimists at heart, but our optimism is grounded in a commitment to safety and human values. We frequently ask ourselves: How can someone outside the tech bubble trust an AI agent? The answer lies in a combination of design, transparency, and community standards. First, we champion a user-centric design for AI: the agent should behave intuitively and helpfully, explaining its reasoning when needed and asking for clarification when it’s unsure. It should feel less like a mysterious black box and more like a collaborator or assistant that you understand.

Second, we believe in opening up the AI decision-making process to scrutiny. Wherever possible, the policies guiding an agent’s behavior (its goals, constraints, and safety rules) should be open for inspection and improvement. We support the idea of external audits and third-party red-teaming of our systems. By inviting the community to poke and prod our agents, we ensure they get better and more robust. No one should have to take an AI system’s safety on blind faith. Just as the safest protocols in computing (like encryption standards) are open to public review, AI safety mechanisms should be transparent and verifiable.

Finally, alignment with human values is not a one-time task but an ongoing process. As we integrate AI into society, broad input is needed to define what “responsible behavior” means for an AI in various contexts. AGI Inc is committed to working with the wider research community and civil society to develop norms and guidelines so that as our agents become more capable, they remain benevolent and beneficial. We’re engineering our systems to fail safe (for example, to gracefully hand control back to a human when they’re out of depth) and to respect user intent and privacy at all times.

Our stance is firm: if an AI system isn’t safe, transparent, and serving its user’s interests, it doesn’t belong in everyday life.

From Scarcity to Abundance

We see the rise of everyday AGI as part of a much larger societal shift – one that goes from scarcity toward abundance. For all of history, advanced knowledge and capabilities have been scarce: only accessible to those with the right education, resources, or connections. General-purpose AI changes that equation. It holds the promise of making knowledge, expertise, and creative problem-solving vastly more abundant. When everyone can have a capable personal intelligence at their fingertips (or running in the background of their lives), we effectively raise the baseline of opportunity for all. Productivity could skyrocket as AI handles mundane labor and humans focus on higher-level creativity and innovation. Education and skill-building could be tailored to each individual by an AI tutor/mentor, dramatically expanding access to learning

Small businesses and startups, empowered by AI agents working 24/7, could compete with giants. Scientific research and invention could accelerate as AI helps explore ideas and coordinate complex projects.

This isn’t just our opinion. Thought leaders across industries are converging on this idea of an abundance agenda – a future where technology allows us to produce more for everyone, instead of fighting over slices of a fixed pie. Moving to a mindset of abundance means embracing tools like AI to unlock human potential at scale. We’re tired of zero-sum narratives. The story we’re interested in is wildly positive-sum: it’s the story of humanity augmented by machines, tackling old problems in new ways and creating wealth and knowledge that simply didn’t exist before

By democratizing intelligence, we ensure this bounty isn’t confined to a privileged few, but benefits all of society. The endgame we dream of is a world where every person has an intelligent assistant, every organization can leverage AI to amplify its impact, and many of our old limitations—time, knowledge, manpower—start to fall away.

A New Dawn, Together

The stakes are high. The transition from today’s world to one of widespread ambient intelligence will be one of the most consequential shifts our society has ever seen.

It’s about more than technology; it’s about how we redefine the relationship between humans and our tools. At AGI Inc, we feel a profound responsibility to get this right. We’re combining the caution of a research lab (stress-testing systems, peer-reviewing ideas, collaborating with academia) with the urgency of a startup (iterating quickly, building usable products, and getting real feedback from real users).

This hybrid approach keeps us grounded in what’s practically achievable today while our eyes remain fixed on the horizon of what’s possible tomorrow.

We’re not naive – there are challenges ahead, from technical hurdles in achieving true reliability, to ethical dilemmas and governance questions. But our stance is one of determined optimism. We fundamentally believe that with the right principles and people, we can shape AI to be a force for overwhelming good. This first essay is a call to action and an invitation. If you share our conviction that intelligence should be a public resource – open, safe, and empowering for all – we invite you to join the conversation (and if you’re ambitious, the company!).

The era of everyday AGI is just beginning. Much like the early days of the internet, we all have a hand in defining what it becomes. AGI Inc is here to ensure it becomes something that serves everyone.

We will build open systems, set high standards, and hold ourselves accountable to the world we’re helping create. The future we foresee is one of amplified human potential, a society moving from the restraints of scarcity to the freedom of abundance, and intelligent agents that are as commonplace and trusted as the smartphones in our pockets.

This is our mission and our passion: to democratize intelligence and make AGI an everyday reality. We’re excited to work with the wider community to build that future – a future where the light of intelligence isn’t held by a few, but shines for all.

Let’s make it happen, together 🚀
